Nominees Sought for Maryland CEC Executive Board Positions

A brief description of each position’s duties is identified in the table below. You must be a member in good standing with Maryland Unit CEC. Maryland State Unit of CEC 2010 Awards
Submitted by admin on Tue, 04/13/2010 - 10:35The Maryland State Unit of the Council for Exceptional Children (MD CEC) is seeking nominations for the Maryland State Unit of CEC 2010 Awards. There will be three categories for this year’s awards:
* Special Education Teacher
* Student Teacher
* Special Education Paraeducator
Winners in each category will be notified this fall and invited to a special meeting of the MD State unite of CEC for recognition. Maryland State Unit of CEC will nominate the winners for CEC’s 2010 National Awards, if applicable. (For further information see the Packet Below)
CEC’s 2011 Federal Outlook for Exceptional Children Success Stories
Annually, CEC publishes the Federal Outlook for Exceptional Children, which provides an overview of special and gifted education funding provided by the Federal government. The Outlook is an education and advocacy tool distributed to members of Congress, federal agencies, and other leaders in the education community used to increase support and advocacy for services for children with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.
2010 Spring Conference "Executive Functioning"
Submitted by admin on Thu, 12/17/2009 - 23:39The Maryland Council for Exceptional Children is pleased to present its 2010 Spring Conference titled: Executive Functioning.
According to Dr. Russell Barkley, executive functions are the actions we perform to ourselves and direct at ourselves so as to accomplish self-control, goal-directed behavior, and the maximization of future outcomes." Attendees will learn the neuropsychology behind executive functioning as well as strategies and techniques to improve executive dysfunctions within the classroom and in everyday life.
